Introduction to sea cliff climbing
Objective
Our introduction to sea cliffs course has been created to enable climbers to take their first steps, from the friendly crag environment, to the wonderful and ‘atmospheric’ world of our renowned British sea cliffs.

Prerequisites
Minimum skills and experience required for this course are: Have experience of abseiling and the use of natural protection, a knowledge of the basic climbing knots, safe use of a climbing harness and the ability to belay appropriately.

Personal equipment
All ropes and rack are provided on the course. You should bring the following: ‘comfortable’ climbing shoes, personal harness, climbing helmet, belay device and appropriate locking karabiner, 1 x 60cm, 120cm, 240cm slings complete with locking HMS karabiners, 2 x prussik loops on 6mm cord (1x 40cm, 1x 60cm in circumference after tying off with double fisherman’s with tails of 50mm to 75mm,) plus all the normal hill kit (See separate kit list)

Programme
The course consists of two days on sea cliffs in real situations utilising natural anchors. Skills covered include: Equipment, objective dangers, tides, access restrictions, route choice, communication, in situ gear, cliff-top anchors, safer abseiling, security at the base of routes, escape routes / methods, ascending techniques, top out belay position.

Travel
Transport to and from the course base and its venues is usually shared. This reduces costs and eliminates the possibility of clients having difficulty in locating the venues.

Accommodation
Accommodation is usually of a B&B type at the St Govern's Country Inn, Bosherston, which is local to the Pembrokeshire climbing area. Single, double or shared rooms are available upon request.


Alternate course locations may be utilised in consultation with clients if requested.
