Scrambling
Objective
The scrambling course, new for ’06, has been created for hillwalkers with a sense of adventure! If you don't know what scrambling is it fits somewhere between mountain walking and easy rock climbing.
Venue
Usually North Wales
Duration
Two full days.
Client numbers
Two.
Prerequisites
There are no minimum skills for this course as the programme is easily adapted to client levels. A reasonable head for heights is useful and a basic level of fitness is needed.
Personal equipment
The course is held in the mountains and clients will therefore need the usual hill kit (see separate kit list). Helmets are required (for the scrambling sections only) and are available for hire. All other technical equipment such as ropes and harnesses are provided.
Programme
Each day’s activity will consist of an approach to a recognised scramble, the scramble itself and when time allows, walking on the tops prior to an easy descent to the valley.
Travel
Transport to and from the course base and its venues is usually shared. This reduces costs and eliminates the possibility of clients having difficulty in locating the venues.
Accommodation
Accommodation is usually of a bunkhouse type at the Galt-Y-Glyn Hotel near Llanberis. Single, double or shared rooms are available upon request.
Alternate course locations may be utilised in consultation with clients if requested.
