Objective
This trip has been developed to provide a tasty alternative to those long winter nights, barren climbing wall sessions and the damp British weather. Warm sun and fine wine make this a great antidote to the winter blues. Oh, and it hardly ever rains.
Venue- Relleu, Costa Blanca, Southern Spain. (single, multi-pitch and trad venues)

Accommodation
Costa Blanca trips are based less than an hour from Alicante airport in a classic terraced house in the small village of Relleu, not far from the classic crag of Sella. This accommodation package includes full board. Shared rooms of two or three persons.

Programme options

The two options for Costa Blanca trips are as follows:

Guided
This is designed for clients who want either to be guided by an instructor whilst climbing or who want to learn new skills at the crag. These skills may include; learn to lead on bolts, learn to lead on traditional gear, improvised rescue or a mixture of guided and teaching days.

Non-guided
This option is designed for competent climbers who need no instruction or supervision on the local Spanish crags, only guidance and advice on venues and route choice.

Both options include accommodation (all bedding supplied), food and catering. Instruction / supervision and car travel, whilst in Spain, are included in the guided / course price only.

Each course has five places available, with two to three places for guided and non-guided. Guided clients may book as individuals. It is usual for non-guided clients to book as pairs or threes.

However, we will make every effort to link up potential individual non-guided clients with suitable climbing partners upon request (in such circumstances responsibility for your safety is entirely your own and we do not accept any liability in the event of an accident howsoever caused).

Prerequisites

Guided
Minimum skills and experience required for this option are: Have experience of climbing outside, safe use of a climbing harness and the ability to belay appropriately.

Non-guided
Competent climbers only. Instruction is not included.

Personal equipment
Guided clients will need the standard personal climbing gear but all ropes and rack are supplied. Non-guided clients will need to be self-sufficient. See equipment lists page.

Transport
Non-guided clients will need to book a hire car (pick up at Alicante Airport). This will allow non-guided clients greater flexibility in both crag choice and the ability to stay longer at crags if desired. The cost of a small car is usually around the £125- £150.

Flights
All clients will need to book their flights. http://Guided fly direct from Gatwick to Alicante at very cheap prices. If you book early a return flight is well below £150.


Guided clients

Leaving the UK on the early morning flight you will be collected at Alicante airport and after settling in at the house, the remainder of the day is spent at the crag . At the end of the course the return flight departs late in the evening thus allowing a full last day!


All clients will be welcomed at Alicante airport and travel together to the house in Relleu before the first day’s climbing.

All clients must have personal accident insurance. The BMC provides good cover for this (www.thebmc.co.uk). E111’s are also essential.
